MAYOR VISITS CITY SUMMER CAMPS Mayor Derrick L. Henry is visiting Parks & Recreation summer camps as part of the Mayor’s Literacy Initiative, encouraging children to keep reading throughout the summer. During a recent visit to Sunnyland Park, campers welcomed the mayor with handmade signs before joining him for a storytime filled with questions, imagination and enthusiasm. The initiative promotes daily reading to help prevent summer learning loss and prepare students for a successful return to school. The mayor will continue visiting additional camp sites throughout the summer.
