Youth Summer Programs
The city has experienced significant growth in participation in youth summer camp programs across its recreational facilities since 2021. Following reduced enrollment levels in 2021 due to COVID-19 restrictions, participation increased in 2022 and continued to grow through 2024 across all sites, including the Julia T. and Charles W. Cherry, Sr. Cultural & Educational Center, Schnebly Recreation Center, Sunnyland Recreation Center and Yvonne Scarlett-Golden Center. In 2025, enrollment levels were adjusted by introducing capacity limits to maintain program quality and ensure a safe, engaging environment for participants. Despite these adjustments, participation remains strong, reflecting sustained community demand for youth programming.
