NEXT WEEKEND YOUTH BASKETBALL CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES Join us for an exciting day of championship action on Saturday, Feb. 28, at the Julie T. and Charles W. Cherry Educational Center, 925 George Engram Blvd. The championship series will take place from 10 a.m. until 1:45 p.m., featuring our top youth teams competing for the title in each age division. Enjoy music and high-energy fun throughout the day with a live DJ and dance entertainment during the championship series. The championship series will be livestreamed on DaytonaBeach.gov/DBTV beginning at 10 a.m.
THIS WEEKEND! MARINE DEBRIS: EFFECTS ON US AND OUR ENVIRONMENT
Breakers Environmental Learning Center will host an educational presentation Saturday, Feb. 21, at 10 a.m. at the center, located at 13 S. Ocean Ave. The program will examine the impact of marine debris on coastal ecosystems, wildlife and local communities, while highlighting practical ways individuals can help reduce pollution and protect marine environments. Admission is free, and parking permits will be provided. The program will be presented by Noelle- Marie Steele and Celia Maze of Bethune-Cookman University’s Integrated Environmental Science program. VALENTINE’S FRIENDSHIP EVENT A SWEET SUCCESS
Residents gathered Thursday, Feb. 12, at the Schnebly Recreation Center for a festive and well-attended Valentine’s Friendship Event. Held from 4:30 to 6 p.m., the free celebration featured holiday crafts, music, cookie-decorating stations and a variety of family-friendly activities. The event provided a welcoming space for residents of all ages to celebrate friendship and the holiday together.

Designed to introduce young athletes to the fundamentals of the game, the programs emphasize teamwork, sportsmanship and fun in a supportive environment.
