BRUCE MCNORTON FOOTBALL CAMP Plays were made at this year’s Bruce McNorton Football Camp at Derbyshire Sports Complex! Attendees had the opportunity to learn the basics and fundamentals of football from several former NFL players, including Hall of Famer Calvin Johnson. The free clinic featured several stations that worked on a variety of skills and building confidence for both boys and girls.
CAMPERS RECEIVE FREE LITERACY KITS The Early Learning Coalition partnered with the city’s summer camp program this year to donate over 300 literacy kits, 100 each for K-1, second grade and third grade campers! These kits include fun, engaging tools to boost reading skills and helpful tips for parents to support literacy at home. This partnership is intended to help set our youth up for success.
SUMMER SPLASH POOL PARTY Youth kicked off summer 2025 with the Summer Splash Pool Party at Campbell Aquatic Center! Youth enjoyed a water slide, free food and drinks, dancing and cooling off at the two pools the aquatic center has to offer. Summer Splash was sponsored by Zone 3 City Commissioner Quanita May and hosted in collaboration with the Daytona Beach Fire Department Local 1162. Additionally, the Campbell Aquatic Center, 400 S. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. has reopened to the public from noon to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday. Visitors can enjoy the pool’s amenities, which feature two pools, an ADA ramp to enter the pool, shaded areas, and bathrooms. Admission is just $1.
