EARLY LEARNING COALITION COMES TO SUMMER CAMP Last week, the Learning Mobile from the Early Learning Coalition made a stop at the YSG Cultural & Educational Center for summer camp attendees. The purpose of the Learning Mobile is to provide learning opportunities by reading a book in an engaging way for a small group up to 10 kids, then have an activity that goes along with the book. Participants can take home books as well. The Early Learning Coalition strives to make sure students are reading at grade level throughout the summer. The next stop will be at the Cherry Cultural & Educational Center, 925 George W. Engram Blvd. Friday, June 20 from 1 to 3 p.m.

DESIGN FOR DAISY STOCKING PARK WINS AWARD Castle Bay Design Studio of St. Augustine received the 2024 Award for Outstanding Development Design Excellence from the Florida Planning & Zoning Association for its redesign of Daisy Stocking Park. Unveiled April 2024, the redesigned four-acre park at 555 Dr. Mary McLeod Bethune Blvd. features a gateway entrance with custom art, new pavilions, upgraded play areas, enhanced lighting and improved walkways. Funded in part by a $1 million African-American Cultural & Historical Grant and $330,000 from the Daytona Beach Racing & Recreational Facilities District, the revitalized park has become a vibrant gathering space for community events in the Midtown area.

CELEBRATE COMMUNITY AT BETHUNE POINT PARK ON JULY 12 Make your way to Bethune Point Park on Saturday, July 12, for Discover Bethune Point Park: A Community Celebration on the Halifax River, a free event for all ages from noon to 3 p.m. Hosted by Zone 1 City Commissioner Monica Paris, this summer gathering invites residents and families to enjoy a fun-filled afternoon outdoors. Guests can enjoy free hot dogs, cool off on an inflatable water slide and take part in engaging activities in a safe and welcoming environment. Sponsored by Zone 1 Commissioner Monica Paris and supported by Daytona Beach Fire Department Local 1162.
