Parks and Recreation Brochure

The John H. Dickerson Community Center was revitalized with a series of exciting updates, including the newly renovated Mickel A. Brown Sr. Activity Building, Dr. James E. Huger Sr. Park and Campbell Aquatic Center. These spaces are not only connected to the surrounding neighborhood but are also linked to each other. Renovations across the complex included the installation of new playground equipment, an outdoor basketball court, additional and reconfigured parking, new sidewalks, improved exterior lighting, fresh paint on buildings and upgraded landscaping. The basketball court inside the gymnasium was also upgraded. Significant improvements were made to the Mickel A Brown Sr. Activity Center in addition to new sidewalk connectivity throughout the complex to enhance accessibility. The Campbell Aquatic Center, located at 400 S. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., also received a major face lift. The entrance was relocated to the north side of the facility, and new additions include a redesigned pool entry, a pavilion, stairs, an ADA-compliant ramp and canopy shade structures over picnic tables.
